The Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development was formally inaugurated by HH the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani on Sunday 1st of November 2015.
At the inauguration ceremony HH the Father Emir also launched the first industry report produced by the Foundation. The ceremony was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs and Ministers, senior officials, guests and more than 400 distinguished national and international personalities from industry, academies, government and diplomatic corps.
The Abdullah Bin Hamada Al-Attiyah International Foundation For Energy and Sustainable Development, the first think-tank of its kind in the Middle East, aims to deliver useful counsel and share knowledge by providing information, research and analysis on energy and sustainable development, and running joint educational programs with Qatar-based educational establishments, also will look to advise states on how to tackle such critical challenges as energy efficiency and plans. Also, to host foremost experts from around the world who have played active role in the advancement of the international energy industry.
The Foundation is the Middle East's first institution to the creation of knowledge and critical solutions to the future of the regional and international energy system.
The Foundation wishes to preserve the legacy of over 40 years' service to the State of Qatar, mainly in the oil and gas Industry, and to promote the ongoing work of its founder, H.E. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah. H.E. Al-Attiyah, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the energy industry and has held a variety of senior leadership positions within the government of Qatar.
